Fallout NCR Ranger Cosplay by Allyson-x Fallout NCR Ranger Cosplay by Allyson-x
Fallout (C) Bethesda
Photo: Taken by.. my mom XD
Edited in Photoshop CS5, masked with a sepia tone, Official Logo from Fallout: New Vegas.

This is my Fallout New Vegas NCR Veteran Ranger Cosplay! Yes, that is me in the picture. I had my mom take pictures of me at her house, this picture is at an angle because I told her to "be artistic" just joking around, but I ended up loving it, even if the angle is slightly awkward.

This costume took FOREVER to make and cost roughly $200 when all was said and done... because I had to buy so many materials. I used lots of references from the web of other talented people who made this costume, many of them who gladly answered any questions I had on the build. My mask has working lights and a mini CPU fan to help me breath!

Im super proud of how it turned out. This is 100% made by me, from the jacket I sewed, to the mask I made (pepakura) to the armor. Many hours went into this. There are a few things I need to change or want to make differently, but thats for another day.

If you have any questions on the build, Ill try my best to help or point you in the right direction :)

I must ask, are the chest and gauntlet bits also pepakura files? If so, can you post a link to where you got them from?

No, the chest is Eva foam. The only pepakura is the mask :)

Its liquid plastic, I had to special order it for like $30 and mix stuff together, like science! Then paint on several layers. Its from Smooth Cast 321 I think.

The best glue I have found (if you are doing pepakura type projects) is called 'Tacky' glue. It's in a bronze cylinder, and you can find it at most craft stores. It's amazing and dirt cheap.

How did you make the helmet? I'm making ranger armor but, I don't know how to do the helmet :/

THe helmet or the mask or both? The actual helmet is an army helmet liner, type M1 I think it was called. I ordered some online that were just the plastic shells, but they didnt have the straps. My dad who was in the army gave me his helmet. I just used the liner with the straps so it would sit correctly on my head. Dont use the metal part, too heavy! Just the liner. Its hard plastic and you can paint it. The mask is pepakura, just google pepakura and you can find the file for it. Basically, made out of paper, glue, and I used liquid plastic to harden it :)

To help with that you could try to put the armor pieces on a underarmor type shirt instead of a foam piece. It'll lighten the costume, make it more breathable and should form to your curves better.

all you need is some darker jeans and possibly a bigger pistol. The chest plate is very well made, however it looks maybe smidge too big, but good all the same. Impressive.

Have you worked with this foam before? Its not really that easy, trust me :P in theory Id love to make it contour and whatnot, but with these materials its just not possible unless you have really high tech tools (which I dont).
